Daniel Vangarde, father of Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and French disco pioneer has announced a new album.
‘The Vaults Of Zagora Records Mastermind (1971-1984)’ will include a catelogue of Vangarde’s work including his collaborations with the likes of Starbow, Who’s Who, Ami Stewart and more.
As a highly recognised producer and songwriter from the 60s to the 80s, Vangarde worked on classics such as Ottawan’s ‘D.I.S.C.O.’, The Gibson Brothers’ ‘Cuba’ and Black Blood’s ‘Aie a Mwana’.

In 1975, Vangarde founded the label Zagora with publisher Jean Kluger which saw the release music for artists including Who’s Who.
His son Thomas Bangalter has also recently been working on an album for pop band, Phoenix.
Previously working with the band multiple times from their first collaboration in 2000 with Bangalter playing the synth on their track ‘Embuscade’, this time, he has helped with the production of their upcoming album ‘Alpha Zulu’.
Out on November 25 via Because Music, the album will be available to steam as well as to purchase as a double vinyl LP and CD.
