Growing up in the historic cathedral city, his formative years were spent navigating the intersection of traditional UK Garage and the burgeoning "Bassline" scene of the late 2010s.** **His education was largely autodidactic, spent behind digital audio workstations (DAWs) rather than in a formal conservatory.** He began producing in his late teens, obsessing over the rhythmic syncopation of **2-step** and the heavy low-end of **4x4 garage**. This "Canterbury-to-London" pipeline allowed him to absorb the gritty, industrial influence of the capital while maintaining the fresh, melodic perspective that has become his hallmark. ### **The Ascent: From Low End to Night Bass** MPH’s professional trajectory is a masterclass in organic growth. His early releases on independent imprints like **Low End**, **Highly Swung**, and **Crucast** served as a testing ground for his sound. However, his international breakthrough was catalyzed by his association with **Night Bass**, the Los Angeles-based label founded by **AC Slater**. By bridging the gap between UK heritage and the American "Bass House" movement, MPH established himself as a bridge between two continents. Significant milestones followed in rapid succession: - **The Night Bass Connection:** Establishing a global foothold by bringing UKG rhythms to the US West Coast. - **Global Headline Tours:** By 2024, MPH had completed sold-out tours across Australia and North America, including a landmark headline show at **Sound Nightclub** in Hollywood. - **The Festival Circuit:** His performances at **Glastonbury**, **Boomtown**, and **Parklife** solidified his reputation as a high-energy live performer capable of commanding tens of thousands. ### **Musical Artistry and Influences** The "MPH sound" is characterized by its dual nature: it is physically demanding on the dancefloor yet sophisticated enough for home listening. His major influences range from the legends of the original UKG era—most notably **MJ Cole**—to the modern "power-noise" of **Flava D**. His work often acts as a bridge between genres, seamlessly moving from smooth, soulful garage creations for labels like **Nuvolve** (DJ EZ's imprint) to raucous bassline bangers for **Spinnin' Records** and **Deadbeats**. This versatility is his greatest strength; he is as comfortable crafting a radio-friendly vocal anthem as he is a dark, industrial "dub" for the early morning hours. ### **Industry Impact and Collaborative Legacy** MPH’s contributions to the entertainment industry extend beyond his own discography. He has become a sought-after remixer and collaborator, working with some of the biggest names in the scene. His support from industry heavyweights such as **Skream**, **Disclosure**, **Floating Points**, and **Chris Lake** has created a palpable excitement surrounding his every move. He is a vital member of a community of artists who have successfully moved UK Garage from a nostalgic "throwback" genre into a contemporary, forward-thinking movement. His willingness to experiment with tempo and texture has popularized the "132-134 BPM" pocket of dance music, which balances the speed of techno with the swing of house. ### **Recent Activities and 2026 Vision** As of **2026**, Myles Fairbairn is operating at the peak of his powers. Following a standout 2025 where he dominated festivals like **EDC Las Vegas**, he has moved into 2026 with a series of high-profile appearances, including **Electric Forest** in June 2026. His recent signing with **Disorder Records** marks a new chapter in his career, signaling a move toward even broader commercial reach without sacrificing his underground roots. Recent sets, such as his collaboration with **Notion** at T7 in Paris in April 2026, continue to showcase his evolution as a world-class selector. ### **Quick Reference: Discography & Milestones** | **Year** | **Title / Milestone** | **Label** | **Notable Track** | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 2021 | *Nova* | Night Bass | "Nova" | | 2023 | *Full Speed* EP | Night Bass | "Rush" | | 2024 | Global Headline Tour | — | Sold-out show at Sound (LA) | | 2025 | Festival Dominance | — | EDC Las Vegas / Rise Festival | | 2026 | Disorder Records Signing | Disorder | "Flex" | | 2026 | Electric Forest | — | Summer 2026 Performance | ### **The Man Behind the Moniker** Despite the high-octane nature of his music, Myles Fairbairn remains a grounded and introspective artist. In candid discussions, he has spoken about the challenges of "going all-in" on his passion and the importance of quality control in a fast-paced digital environment. He views his music as a way to "set up a story" for the listener—a spiritual connection shared between the DJ and the dancefloor. His legacy is already taking shape as a premier architect of the UKG resurgence. For the newcomer, MPH’s work is an entry point into a world where the drum machine has a heart, and the bassline tells a tale. As he continues to innovate through 2026, his status as a global leader of the electronic underground is firmly secured.
