Instagram wants users to know when the influencer they’re following isn’t actually human.
The platform announced this week that it is updating how profiles featuring AI-generated people are labeled, while also introducing consequences for accounts that fail to disclose that the person they’re presenting was created with artificial intelligence.
The move comes as increasingly realistic AI influencers continue appearing across social media, making it harder to tell whether the person behind an account actually exists.
