Thomas Bangalter is reflecting on a pivotal chapter in Daft Punk’s history. In a recent appearance on the A24 podcast, the musician explained how scoring Tron: Legacy changed the duo’s creative process and ultimately influenced Random Access Memories.
Before working on Disney’s 2010 sci-fi film, Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo kept their music-making intensely private. According to Bangalter, nearly everything they created happened between the two of them in his bedroom. They rarely invited outside voices into the process before a project was fully finished.
