Residents across Spain’s Balearic Islands — including Ibiza — are increasingly calling for limits on tourism as concerns about overcrowding, housing costs, and infrastructure pressure continue to grow.
According to reporting from the Majorca Daily Bulletin, a recent survey of 2,008 residents across Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera found strong support for new regulations aimed at reducing tourism pressure on the islands.
The poll revealed that 69.1% of respondents support introducing a cap on tourist numbers, while 68.4% favor restricting tourist accommodation and businesses catering primarily to visitors.
