Spotify will begin labeling artist profiles generated by artificial intelligence as “AI Personas”, introducing new transparency measures as AI-created music continues to spread across streaming platforms.
The changes will begin rolling out in mid-September and apply to artist identities rather than individual songs. Profiles identified as AI-generated will receive an AI Persona badge, while Spotify will also use a “Likely AI Persona” label for accounts it determines represent artificial artists after human review. Artists will have the opportunity to appeal those decisions.
